It was not until this evening, trying to clear off the sofa in my apartment here in Brown Hall on the campus of Valdosta State University, that I remembered that I actually have two more creative goals for the summer:

• compose a piece to submit to Marc Burroughs’ “Outside the Bachs” competition; I talked about this one a couple of days ago, along with copyright. Due October 31.
• compose a piece to submit to the “Welcome Christmas” Carol Competition, co-sponsored by the American Composers Forum and Philip Brunelle’s Minneapolis-based VocalEssence ensemble. This year, the orchestration is SATB with celeste. Due August 31.

I am now taking suggestions for texts for either or both.
