The nucleus is surrounded by cytoplasm, a jelly-like gunk that makes up the body of the cell. Cytoplasm is in fact the stuff that is the alive part of living organisms. It is made up of proteins and fats and other complicated molecules, mixed with water. You'll find all kinds of stuff floating around in the cytoplasm, which you'll learn about when we get to organelles. In your workbook on p. 3, answer the question: What is cytoplasm? |
