The cells of organisms in some kingdoms have organelles called chloroplasts. These organelles contain chlorophyll, which allows the cell to use sunlight to convert water and carbon dioxide into sugar, which is then converted into energy by the mitochondria. This ability is very important. Not all organisms can do this. For example, can you? Answer this question on p. 3 in your workbook: What are chloroplasts and what do they do? |
